INTRODUCING DR. KAVITA BERI – NEW PHYSICIAN SPECIALIZING IN PRIMARY CARE AND COSMETIC MEDICINE ADDED TO COASTAL HEALTHCARE
What made me to decide to become a doctor?
Well it was really growing up, visiting my grandfather in India. He is a doctor still practicing at the age of 86. Most summers I would spend with him at his clinic, watching him work with people, most of them underprivileged, seeing the hope and gratitude in their eyes. That’s what really inspired me to decide on medicine.
I feel it’s important for people to feel good not only on the inside but to be proud of how they feel on the outside – hence the focus on Cosmetic Medicine.
I feel doing cosmetics, I can offer the “feel good” component of medicine to patients which is instantaneous, with minimal efforts and downtime. Skin being the largest organ in the body, it was never enough to learn all about it and so I wished to pursue further training in it, learning new non-invasive techniques for taking care of various cosmetic skin conditions. Non-invasive cosmetic medicine has always been an area of interest and offering new technology to patients which gives better results with less down time. I believe technology now has a lot to offer to us both in skin care and healthy living. I truly feel having a background in Internal Medicine and the years of experience doing dermatology, gives me the perfect blend of experience for preventive health and preventive skin care for anti-aging.
My Personal Side:
When I am not at work, I’m a full-time Mom. God has blessed me with two beautiful kids and I treasure being a mom to them. I love being a part of their school and daily activities and am very active as a school PTA member. Gym, listening to good music and just having a relaxed time with friends and family are my best moments. I love reading classic fiction and my favorite authors are Tolstoy, Jane Austen, and Ayn Rand. I am a movie buff, and don’t let a single weekend pass without watching a movie with my family (love Netflix!!). My husband, Gagan, is a Gastroenterologist, also with Coastal Healthcare.
I love the fact that it is a blend of skin care, preventive health and advanced technology. Skin care consultations are an absolute must before any procedure, because it gives me and my patients time to go over all options with every procedure, and it gives me a chance to educate them. I feel a little bit of education can go a long way for healthy habits. With the electronic medical records, it’s simpler to store and retrieve data. With different procedures that we offer for skin care, my patients have many options of treatment for all budgets, from Microdermabrasion and chemical peels to Laser treatments.
For my Primary Care side of the practice, I want to educate and empower my patients with healthy habits, preventative care and healthy routines.
For my Cosmetic practice, I want to keep up with latest advances in cosmetic medicine offering latest techniques, including Painless Laser Hair removal, which we recently introduced. Non-invasive skin tightening and face lifts with Radiofrequency technique, which we will be introducing shortly. Over all, the most important thing is that patients leave the office feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and with optimal results. Continuing our most popular services, Microdermabrasion with anti-oxidant infusions and Chemical Peels that suit almost all skin types and budgets.
