Buerger’s disease (thromboangiitis obliterans) is a rare vascular disease where the blood vessels of the hands and feet become obstructed. There is no treatment for this disease, but it is possible to control the symptoms. This disease is a form of vasculitis.
Symptoms
- Hands or feet are pale, red, or blue
- Hands or feet may feel cold
- Pain in the hands and feet
- Pain when walking
- Skin changes or ulcers on the hands and feet
- Symptoms that increase with exposure to cold
Treatment
- Apply warmth
- Exercise
- Surgical sympathectomy
- Aspirin
- Vasodilators
