Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that occurs in the small intestines. This disorder is caused by a reaction to gliadin a gluten protein found in wheat and similar crops like barley and rye. This disease causes inflammation in the small intestines that interferes with the absorption of nutrients. The only treatment is a gluten-free diet.
