Crohn’s disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease that usually affects the intestines but that can occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the rectum. Symptoms will depend on what part of the gastrointestinal tract is infected and range from mild to severe with periods of flare-ups. The exact cause of Crohn’s disease in unknown but it is known to be an autoimmune disorder. There are five different types of Crohn’s disease.
