Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease where swelling occurs in the lymph nodes, lungs, liver, eyes, skin, or other tissue. Though the cause is unknown, abnormal tissue will form in parts of the body; these granulomas are clusters of immune cells. Symptoms typically can involve any organ system in the body, but can get better without any treatment in some cases. Treatment can make patients more comfortable.
